Course Outlines
Training can be tailored to suit the customer. A typical course runs for up to two days. The first part of the course is devoted to general presentation skills. The second part focuses on techniques that can be used to bridge the knowledge gap between presenter and audience, and on avoiding the most common errors made.
Each participant gives a short presentation at the start of the course which is video-taped and replayed at the end. By this time, each person should have built up a framework for criticising their own and each other’s presentations. At the end, everyone receives a video tape of their presentation as well as a detailed set of notes summarising all of the topics covered.
Courses are very interactive. There are many group exercises and participants are encouraged to ask questions and share ideas at all times. The question will always be posed: how does this apply to me and to my work? A breakdown of the topics is as follows:
General Presentation Skills
Preparation - Scope, Creating & Selecting Ideas, Structure, Writing the Presentation, Guide Notes, Visual Aids, Rehearsing
Delivery - Audience Contact, Conversing with the audience, Enthusiasm, Body Language, Nerves, Dealing with questions.
Bridging the Gap
Common Errors - Listed Introductions, Correctness, Completeness, Information Overload, Wild Graphs
Good Practice - Analogies, Examples, Demonstrations, Anecdotes, Memorable material
